Using Google Book Search, you can find The Free Library and many other extraordinary old books, such as:

* Ferriar's The Bibliomania
* A futurist from 1881's 1931: A Glance at the Twentieth Century
* Aesop's Fables
* Shakespeare's Hamlet
* Abbott's Flatland
* Hugo's Marion De Lorme
* Dunant's Eine Erinnerung an Solferino
* BolĂvar's Proclamas
* Dante's Inferno

So just check this out!!

  1. Why is this on the Community blog? There's no particular connection to the UAE here is there? If people here whoever you are can post just about anything, what's the point of this site?

  2. Its called UAE community blog so I assume it should concentrate on events, news, and stuff related 2 wut is happening in the country…..anyways that was my personal opinion!

    “ Is UAE community blog dedicated to criticizing UAE only?”

    Did I say so!

  3. UAE community blog has a fairly open remit. It's purpose is to serve the UAE blogging community, help people promote their blogs, and discuss issues relevant to blogging and the UAE.

    A lot of bloggers are quite ardent netizens, and as writers they are probably quite into reading, so innovative online services like this are probably of interest. Particularly as books can be more tricky to come by in the UAE.

  4. Thanks dg and SD, for coming out defending the post.
    English books being unusually costly (well for me at least) I thought of talking about free books - this should be extremely helpful for parents of school children as well as younger bloggers!
    After all life in UAE is much more than just what UAE/ Dubai would-be, should-be or could-be!
