Not a nice present for those new residents on the Palm. The Gulf News is reporting it
here and also a thread on the Skyscraper City forums
here. I really hope there are no casualties.
EDIT: Pics from the skyscrapercity ones here:

But do go visit, those guys have heaps more.
What's up with all these fires in Dubai? Just all of a sudden!
ReplyDeleteIt really is getting out of hand. The rules are in place but they're being ignored and that's what causes most of the fires. Bad wiring is the other cause.
ReplyDeleteWe urgently need the rules to be enforced.
Hi I'm the web editor for XPRESS newspaper - please do send us any photos you've taken of the fire and we'll publish them. Follow this link - http://www.xpress4me.com/feedback/submit_photos.asp. Thanks, Suzanne
ReplyDeleteWallah Baghdad is not burning as much as Dubai is!
ReplyDeleteWell, when you've got high concentration of construction going on a certain place, such incidents are the likely outcome every now and then...
ReplyDeleteAlthough I don't know of any comprehensive Emergency Plan in place (in case of natural disaster God forbids) however, I can't underestimate the efficiency and the promptness of Dubai police and civil defense, they do a great job...
Thank God there were no fatalities..
When quality is compromised over cheap contractors, thats what we are witnessing in Dubai!!
ReplyDelete^^ Agree with the above. Lax standards across the board!
