Well, to name a few, there is the Business Bay crossing, Maktoum bridge, Shindagha tunnel, Garhoud Bridge and the Rashid Bridge - i.e. a variety of names? The funds perhaps come from the Maktoum family, hence they are free to name as they see fit.
It certainly better than the so called Business Bay bridge. I hate those names where the name is translated literally. It should be Al Khaleej Al Tijari bridge.
They are about to build a modern bridge (which is a distinct landmark by all measures), and commemorate one of the early founders of Dubai by naming it after him, what’s wrong in that?

A surprise outcome: Another Maktoum bridge!

ReplyDeleteTotally agree with Rosh.
ReplyDeleteShould be the Dubai Arch Bridge--generic, but that big beautiful arch is what this bridge is all about.

Samuraisam,

It is time finally they are giving Sheikh Rashed the recognition he truly deserves. After all, he is the father of modern Dubai.
