Don't care or perhaps it's 'cause I don't get the Obama mania (?) I think the country deserves better (just my thought). Can't wait for this to be over, waaay too many analytical clowns on the tele, negativity, and a billion "polls" with no real purpose.
I'm not voting, as I don't want either one. I'm getting all kinds of grief over this...but I don't think I should vote "the lesser of teo evils."
But I have to ask Proud Emirati, why do you think McCain is better for the GCC? Most of the people I know and have asked in the GCC have said Obama. THX
Because the relation between the republicans and GCC royal families are deeper than what we all can imagine. The problem with the democrats is that they might see Iran as a good partner (considering their cooperation in Afghanistan and Iran) and decide to cooperate against the GCC interest.
sheesh...! KT doubled its pages devoted to the US Elections.... i can't believe the interest people have in an election where you have NO SAY.... obama or mccain... the bombs will fly, the people will continue to vanish and get tortured, the mideast crisis won't get solved, pakistan will continue being an allied-FOE and al qaeda second-in-commands and country managers will keep popping up on grainy videos.... do u ppl really believe things are gonna change?
enjoy the US elections for the entertainment value, the SNL skits and the trigger happy channels eager to be the first to announce the WINNER :)
talha...great points, yes people are dying, storms, floods earthquakes..so many things are going on..what are we doing about it, what are you doing about it is the question...
I have no answer to that question, but let me tell you, the fact that I feel helpless right now does not mean I should not have an opinion on what I have no control on, or something that is not my business..
go do something about the issues you've raised...rather than criticizing.. as the saying says "la yoghayer Allah be8owmen shay2an Ella an yoghayeroo ma be2anfosihim" = start working on self improvement if you want to build a better society...
LIoLI: Valid point :) the jist of my comment was "i don't care" not because i do not want to be bothered. but bcoz my bothering about these 2 fellows and the american elections will not change anything. its not like they are my leaders. its not like they are gonna be bothered about my opinions or my issues. i don't see Obama/McCain debating Salik or The UAE national identity any time soon ;)
i just feel this election is being blown out of proportion outside the US to the point where we get to know how much palin's wardrobes cost and what church she goes to blah blah blah. maybe we are besotten with the title of "most powerful man on earth" [er... most powerful person so as to not to sound sexist] and have on a subconcious level accepted mccain or obama to be OUR leader :)
you are right about taking charge and making a change myself - but these elections are just not the answer to ANY of the problems i listed hence my aversion to getting too excited about either of these candidates. we have spent too long waiting for one american president after the other to come solve the mid east crisis, isn't it time we ignored these folks and tried to work on our own solution?
plz don't take my apathetic response to Mr. DTP's question as a sign that i am not doing anything for these issues. my "i don't care" attitude to US elections are in no way a sign that "i don't care" about anything else on the planet..!
LIoLI nevertheless your point is very valid and is appreciated. you are right we shud all have opinions even if they don't really matter. maassalama.
Ummm...perhaps ask yourself, which Arab country shall follow the path similar to that of UAE, Qatar, Bahrain or even Oman. Perhaps you should ask, "why didn't the US bomb these places?" Am not implying violence of any sort is the way to go - but perhaps it's time to look a little beyond eh?
Rosh bro, I wouldn't go as far as rationalizing why they've bombed this country and haven't bombed the other. The US has no business raiding the lands of a sovereign nation and killing its people without proper evidence, let alone a trial. It's inexcusable, period.
Rosh, I'm not going to reply to the comment, because as our history proves, we're going to end up in a huge ridiculous argument and that will either end up in getting our off-topic posts removed and I'm also running on a crazily busy schedule so I won't be able to dedicate my time to the argument/discussion. :(

Obamama.
ReplyDeleteDon't care.
ReplyDeleteI don't care much, the issue was not always to do with the elected president but with the team he listens to.

ReplyDeleteAnd I think ppl should care coz everyone saw what happened in this pass 8 years
Obama has lots to proof, taking into consideration his colour, race, middle name and the history of American politics.
ReplyDeleteHe is not the better of two devils, not that Mcain is any better.
So it is a loose loose situation.

don't care.
ReplyDeletewill it really affect u.s's foreign policy who gets elected?
I think it should matter to people who gets elected. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteBecause in the end, it is this side of the World that gets affected, directly or indirectly. :S
The next question I'm wondering about is... 'Who will America bomb next after elections?!!!'
Pakistan or Iran?
They've already raided Syria...

ReplyDeletelol DJ bro: re-read my comment. Didn't say/imply, the actions are justified or correct. Think we've debated this topic to the grave in past.
ReplyDeleteNo worries Rosh. You and me are on the same wavelength. I think understand your point.
ReplyDeleteI can always use a chance to put up a rhetorical statement, though...:)
