There have been a couple of posts put up over the past couple of days that seem to have mysteriously disappeared. Blogger Dashboard gives the header & opening lines of the post but when you click on it, you're taken to the latest post & the one you want is nowhere to be found.
What happened to 'Judicial System Fails Roxanne' & 'Visitors are being held captive for months after passports are being confiscated for minor offences in Dubai' both posted by Radha Stirling? Click on either title & you'll get the 'Page Not Found' excuse.
If the posts aren't being blocked, what's happened to them?
If they are being blocked, I can't help but think the UAE is taking it's censorship a bit too far.
It's not a perfect world.

ReplyDeleteCould you post links to those two posts? Thanks :)
Maybe the person who posted them in the first place decided to remove them.....
ReplyDeleteHey, I haven't seen those two posts; what probably happened is someone posted them, they ended up on RSS feeds/twitter and they removed the post pretty soon after for whatever reason they have chosen. I haven't personally deleted or removed anything recently however there are more than a dozen admins so anyone could have done anything. Haven't heard any complaints from the author that stuff has disappeared though.
ReplyDeleteI read them both on RSS feeds and yes, when I clicked the links to read some comments, I didn’t find them. I thought that Sam removed them for some “security” reasons, but now it's clear that it was not him :)
ReplyDeletei read them when they first came out. it looked like someone copy-pasted their thesis paper.
ReplyDeletewhile it would have been an interesting post, it was quite dull. I had a hunch they'd be removed.
Ah, seems like its all to do with the RSS feed......
ReplyDeleteThanks for the explanation(s)
This article on UAE censorship was published by Akhbar newspaper, but it is entirely in Arabic. Maybe someone in the community can translate it? It's author is Dr Davidson

ReplyDeletethis was a carefully crafted one. read really well, but disappeared quick too. saw it the day it came out
ReplyDeleteDo you mean the al-akhbar article is censored in the UAE too?
ReplyDeleteThey were my comments and I did not remove them. I noticed they were removed quite quickly and assumed they had been censored.
