Mysterious Lebanese fruit

Does anyone know anything about what this strange fruit is? I bought it in Geant, it comes from Lebanon and is called "akka dhuniya", but a Google search doesn't come up with much.

It tastes a bit like a sour plum, but instead of a stone there is a big multi-segment seed thing.

ACEROLA?

I don't think so no, this is bigger. It is about the size of a large plum, and each seed is about the size of a large almond, if an almond was wedge shaped.

We always buy akidinia around this time of the year. Akidinia season is very short...I have no idea what it's called in English...all I know is it tasted good (especially when they're a bit on the lemon-y side...mmm).

FYI "Akka Dhuniya" is Hindi for "full world" or "entire world". More accurately, "world" is "duniya"....minus the "h" sound.
