Coming Soon - One movie for the price of two!

According to the coming soon page of TEN Movies, Grindhouse, the Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez double-feature homage to 1970s exploitation movies, which was shown in the US as one movie, is going to be shown here as two separate movies, "Grind House:death Proof" and "Grind House 2: Planete Terror" (I'm guessing that the inventive spelling is TEN's). Does anyone know if the same thing is being done anywhere else?

Also, even with some fake trailers for non-existent upcoming movies, the movie as shown in the US is only a little more than three hours long, including scenes that will have to be cut to be shown here, so these will be two very short movies unless they are padding them out with some scenes that were not shown here.

Distributor, The Weinsteins Co., had always planned to release this anthology separately in the international market, because ‘grindhouse’ is, like it or not, an American socio-cultural relic (exploitation B-movies playing non-stop in 70s theatres -- called grindhouses -- dedicated to entertaining lard asses and/or horny geeks).

QT and Rodriquez’ “Grindhouse” was one of the biggest financial failures at the US box office this year. Several reasons have been cited: the long 3-hours+ running time, misunderstanding of the grindhouse concept among contemporary audiences, and, of course, the possibility that the movies themselves could be ca-ca. (Though, QT’s “Death Proof” has, expectedly, received critical jerk-off.) This has only expedited the splitting up of the double-feature for the rest of the world.

And yes, “Death Proof” and “Planet Terror” will be padded out with additional scenes that were left on the cutting floor to bring in the double-feature to its 3-hour mark. QT took a much longer cut with him to Cannes, so obviously there’s enough footage that should eventually makes its way to our theatres, or on the eventual DVD (which is also where you’ll find those fake trailers).

Given the delightfully gratuitous nature of the "Grindhouse" movies, the question you should be asking yourself is if it would be worth watching them at the morally-obligated Dubai cinemas?

I hate to rub it in, but I'm so glad I got the chance to see these movies as one unit, cause it was just a blast .. the trailers in between were much of the fun, which I can only assume will be lost when they are split ... Of the two, I'd have to say QT made the slightly superior flick, but they're both tons of fun

I have watched this movie two weeks ago...I think it was too long but pretty entertaining though.
