A Campaign of Love!

The so called “Fav #1 paper” yesterday kicked off a month long campaign - I love Dubai. What joy? What agony? I honestly, don't know what to feel reading it.

Came across a blog by Marwan, who has minced no words in expressing his love. Read his outbursts of love in his post "Happy Days are Here Again".

As for me - I think it is time to drop KT for an affair with GN for a month. And if it is good. I might consider a long term relationship. Or who knows, maybe I'll take up celibacy and not read any newspapers in the gulf! But one thing for sure, this campaign has turned me off!

p.s - Another option would be to use your newspapers to clean glass - try it out! Crumple a few pages, dip in water and wipe your windows for a shine! For best results, use your newspaper within few minutes of delivery.

I wanted to blog about something related that I observed a couple of days ago! Good thing you brought this up. Last year, I used to buy the Gulf News from the local grocery and it was always sold out! I always had to walk around visiting 2 or 3 groceries to get the paper. I used to see some Khaleej Times left unsold on the stands.
This year, specially the past week after I started http://uaecreatives.blogspot.com - a blog record of UAE ads, after browsing through the dailies, I found that KT had more advertisements and so I decided to buy that regularly. Surprise of Surprises! I expected Khaleej TImes to be easily available at my local grocer. What I found was that the situation now had reversed! Most of the local grocers had unsold copies of Gulf News and no Khaleej Times at all!

Maybe there is a good reason for that.

Cause I was told that the shops don't want to stock KT and rather keep extra GN copies.

GN is known for its job vacancy ads and according to the grocers - people come in the night to buy copies of GN just to glance through the job vacancy pages.

Anyways, try the window cleaning option. Or just pick up those free newspapers, to cut expenses and read 'real' news on the Internet.
