UAE girls' Mentality

Even though I have many marvelous girl friends, I do have a probelm with the typical mentality of the girls in this country... what is the problem? They are real shallow with no real intrests... like once I was talking to couple of them about the clear impact of globalization in Dubai more than AD etc... after I was done like after 15 mins of talking one of them asked"mmmm, right I'm with you but what is globalization?" the other said:"yeah true what is globalization", and even though I felt like stabbing myself I said: "well globalization is the main reason we have famous brand names available.." one of them interrupted :"Like Dior" the other started talking about her Dior collection... actually this friend is branded she has a brand sticker on her forehead with D on it (lolz), whatever I hate this types of conversations so I was about to scream in here face, shut up you stupid... but luckly she was smart enough to read in my face the phrase "none inter'ssant"I don't put all the blame on those gals but on the community in general, for its consuming culural habbits ... no much awarness with the value of other stuff... ppl are branding each other and classifying each other in respect of each others cars, mbs and clothes! so everybody's main interest is heading there, yet gals do it in a more crazy way..i know glas who have this as there main interest in life in addition to romance and gossiping... these are their intrests, chat subjects and thier life stories... My friends think Im super Smart not coz Iam, its coz i read the newspaper!! they believe anything I say and embrace it as simple as it is... This is why I dont like hanging out much with most of them.

That's depressing. Very depressing.

You can't generalise though. I believe smart girls in this country are too busy enjoying their single status!

Balushi you freak! Women aren't stupid, and they are not just being hired because the boss wants to have sex with them. God knows where u work, or what YOU do at work!?!?
I agree that the majority of girls in the UAE are superficial and phoney and so freaking boring to hang out with. But if it bothers you so much just look for new friends.

Punctuation, not ellipses, are your friend.

And welcome to Dubai, the city that cares - about your bank balance.

@anon lurker: When you mess with balushi, you mess with me. LOL

Ya3ani most people who've had relatively easy lives are superficial, because they have no way to relate to other people's problems. On top of that, modern day Dubai has a consumer culture like no other, atop a very classist society. What do you expect?

I don't find women more superficial then men however, but they are more bound by social norms than we are - giving off the appearance of superficiality.

TrailingSpouse-
Why don't you comment on the post instead of the person's intelligence. You're not far behind.

alias, you are unfairly and impatiently generalizing. I get to see and talk to many of these girls, since I work at a local university. I don't think these girls are as shallow and boring as you make them to be. As a matter of fact I find in your comment a thinly-disguised hint of self-promotion and little precious thoughtfulness. Why do you expect these girls to know what globalization is? And how different are they from other girls their age in terms of their interests (fashion, perfume, dating, chatting, etc.)? Despite the inadequate schools they attended and the restrictions on their lives, many of these girls are amazing; they’re funny, driven, respectful, and they graduate with good skills and genuine desire to change their lot if not their society. Those who get hired are setting a new example of work ethics. Yes, like other girls in other places, some are not that smart and some are shallow; so what? And by the way, they also learn about globalization at the university if that's such a big deal for you.

for Balushi what do you mean by how old is me!!! I will take it as a compliment and will ask you the same question about urself especially after reading your post this one:

"Changing Times!
Yes, these days all these things are made under their Brand names... and they sell like crazy! Nobody wants to buy Al Madani But we all only buy them CK, DG and bla bla bla

Well you can put this also under my post "Stupidity is on the Rise"

Yesterday I was driving near hatta and some local guys were laughing at a Bangali guy who was riding on a Donkey! I was really IMPRESSED to see one's from us laughing at a man with Donkey! It was them Donkey's that helped our parents carry loads to transport from one place to another. Donkeys have been a Great Part of our History"

This was the first post I read for you and the first visit to you blog and it impressed me. I have to admit that I changed my mind alot since then!
About that women are stupid I think you are right to think so as Im sure that no smart girl will approach such a loser.

nah I'm not promoting myself, coz if you take as so then im promoting myself as a freak inconsiderate geek.
and I said I have really impressing friends, so I'm not generalizing but you won't really know unless you hanged out with them.
Globalization thingy wasn't why I criticised those girls so please get out of the globalization thingy, what I really meant and thought would be really clear was that they lack real intrest and awareness of whats going on around them. I have really smart girl friends who are doing really great in thier studies but thats all what they know. I do care as a girl about looking good but making this the topic of my life and my first reading topic!? there would be something wrong. Another thing I was jinting to is that in the growing comsumption culure here in UAE they started even to lose track of the value of money... many of my working smart girl friends are under serious debts coz of thier shopping habbits or they reach the half of the month with no more cash.
Note:Again I'm not talking about all the girls in UAE just about quite growing sector!

Best stop there, mate.

"what do you mean you are not GENERALIZING but MOST girls are"...i find that totally offensive to us, "uae girls" have you even met MOST of us as you claim? validate your comment by socialising with SOME people from ALL the SEVEN emirates, and then throw a foolish comment as the UAE girl's mentality....and if you've only happened to meet a couple of girlies from here and there from the town of Dubai, then change the title to suit it...
Globalization: tell us what you little you know to have a superior attitude about it. It is a very complex issue, and to say that global brands being available is a very shallow look at it...if you want to start an argument, with a "smart uae mentality" bring it on gurl..
regarding your intelligence: most of teh people I know read the daily news, politics and all, does that make them any more intelligent than you are, I sure know NOT...i invite you to redefine intelligence...

a growing consumption culture, and growing sector of girls into brands: I think SIMON has given a fair reply to that, aren't most other girls around the globe with a similar income into similar things? isnt Hollywood said to be a trend setter and girls, regardless of ethnicity, follow? and then you will always have those who CHOOSE not to. perhaps you are one of them. I know I am one. I dont wear what others impose on me. I dont think of thoughts that others impose on me...
so alias (i would advise you remove the uae part since you obvioulsy arent) before making judgements, take a step back, and analyze (if you're that intelligent) matters objectively...i will also invite you read a couple of pages from any SOCIOLOGY book to better understand behaviours...
