TwingeDXB - A Twitter Fringe!

An urban festival? In Dubai?

Yes, an urban festival!

Where?

At Wild Peeta in front of the World Trade Centre exhibition halls, just by the metro station.

Wow! Sounds great! When's it happening?

Starting the 10th December, a week of arts and stuff, with evening events dedicated to books, music, fashion, comedy, drama poetry and film. There's a whole load of happenings already confirmed and loads of room for people to pitch in and take part as performers/artistes and so on.

That's brilliant! Where can I find out more?

Erm, on the event webpage perhaps? It's linked here.

A web page! Cool! I'm off!

Where are you going?

TwingeDXB of course! Hurry up and you might catch up with me!

Because you all needed another Dubai Radio Ad scratching around inside your craniums like a coke-addled lobster, that's why. And because I'll be having the UAE launch of the papery, booky print edition of my book, Olives, there on the first night.

Heads Up

A quick heads up - there's an exhibition of HDR (High Dynamic Range) photographs from Dubai-based photographer and photoblogger Catalin Marin (Momentary Awe is his blog, BTW) at JamJar in Al Quoz tonight. Here's the location info if you don't know JamJar. It's being put together by printer company Oki Printing Solutions (Oki is a client, just so's we're all clear) and is open to the public from 6pm-8pm.

Thanks to an idea from Rambling blogging and PR person Mita yesterday, we're going to be auctioning off a signed high definition print of one of Catalin's most popular images, After the Storm in aid of MSF in Haiti.

Err... that's it. Just thought I'd share.

Calling all shutterbugs...

Since there is such a massive interest in photography, I thought I'd let you guys know about this upcoming event.

Gulf Photo Plus (GPP), the region’s only dedicated Photography Event, will be held from March 30 to April 4, and features workshops and seminars from 13 of the world's best photographers.

Beginner to professional photographers can participate in a host of related activities, to be held at the Dubai Knowledge Village Conference Center.

Learn from the likes of Joe McNally, Cliff Mautner, Chase Jarvis and David Hobby; or just pick the brains and steal the secrets of David Nightingale, Bobbi Lane or Asim Rafiqui.

In addition, the popular ‘Photo Friday’ event on 3rd April will include tips and techniques from a choice of lectures, mini-workshops and live demonstrations from world-class photographers and brand experts.
