Dubai explosion

Quite a few people seem to have heard or felt the explosion in Dubai this morning.

It was nothing to worry about, I was caught up in the traffic closures around the event - a controlled explosion to demolish the towers that are making way for Dubai Pearl by the entrance to Palm Jumeirah.

They're now lying flat on the ground.

Finally!

Chipping away at the buildings with a wrecking ball seemed to accomplish nothing.

Wasn't it a recently (not completed)constructed building that was lying around partly demolished for ages....

Stained yes, the concreting was just about finished on them, then they started to very slowly demolish them.

anon@20.44, the original developer/development got into trouble, a new developer took over the land and designed a completely new project.

It's good to see the masterplan is all going smoothly
