Deviant Art Blocked in the UAE

Etisalat has et again blocked another harmless site - Deviant Art.com

Many of my friends who are graphic designers use the site to showcase their artwork and portfolios. No idea why they blocked it, but it would be a good idea to petition Etisalat to unblock it.

You can join the Facebook group as well.

Any du users having the same issue?

I am so upset beyond comprehension.

They previously blocked it, and then unblocked it and now they blocked it back.

Apparently being a members gives you certain privileges to view "nude art" which isn't nearly as pornographic as it sounds and you can set the mature filter on and off anyway!

not blocked by Du, i can access the site from home.

just had a quick navigate through the site with the "mature filter" turned off and there are some riske images including Manga and self-harm.

Its not blocked in Du - I did not know this web site existed. Some interesting work here. I haven't noticed anything obscene but then I wasn't looking for this anyway.

Agree with the petition, any idea how we'd go about doing that?

oh god =( Deviantart.com is like my fav site , it is the only place where I can post my digital and traditional artwork. I just hope it won't end up like flickr , blocked forever, i mean.

How dare you people question the wise and benevolent leaders of this great nation and their quest to protect us from the bad things out there!

God forbid you were to see a female breast or even worse a buttock while perusing the internet, then what deviant and unholy acts would you get into.

Thank you etisalat for blocking these sites and saving me and my fellow man from eternal hellfire.

Infact I think we should start a petition to burn and destroy all art deemed as un-islamic, such as Michelangelo's David, Botticelli's Venus and any other depictions of the naked human body.

I don't know about you people, but everyone I know was born fully clothed! Shame I say! God bless our benevolent Government and their proxies for watching over us and ensuring we get into no harm!

Come on people don’t start flaming the country and its leaders just because Etisalat's did something utterly stupid …it have nothing to do with the country values , I notice that some people in here always start flaming whenever Etisalat block a good site…..I am a local myself and I really think that Etisalat is run by a bunch of idiots.
and for your information..they blocked the site not because of the nude photography and art ,but because it is listed as "dating" site. *obviously it is not*

I love deviantart =( I hope it'll come back soon.

It is extremely easy to bypass the blocking.

I use sites such as Flickr and Orkut daily this way through Etisalat connection.

just google "proxy bypass tutorial", you would be able to bypass the Shitisalat proxies in minutes.

if u need help, send a msg at bdllh.karim at gmail

We are too stupid to decide what is bad and what is not. Thank you UAE and Etisalat to take that decision for us. We sheep would be lost without you.

You rule!

i loaded the page saw a woman wearing only her panties and I think the drawing of a an elf having rough sex with a troll of sort. Although, of that i can't be sure as i had to pull the plug off my computer to avoid destroying my moral values.

Posting anonymously as I don't want to put shame on my family by letting them now I saw a naked woman.

I haven't been able to access DeviantArt at all..and really think we should all do another petition, but this time one that will stick for a LONG time. I doubt that if we sit and wait they'll reopen it. My messages are piling up >>

That's a good site. I didn't know about it before. It's not blocked in Qatar, at least not yet.
