No 'one villa, one family' rule!

What a turn-around!

Dubai: There is no "one villa, one family" rule in Dubai and the campaign against overcrowded villas has been misunderstood, a top civil official said on Sunday.

The municipality has started a campaign against overcrowding in villas to ensure the safety and security of residents," clarified Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of the Dubai Municipality.

He said the campaign was targeted against high numbers of people living in villas meant for smaller numbers.

He said the municipality did not have any problem with more than one family living in a villa, provided it was big enough.

"Families sharing a villa have to seek permission from the municipality to know whether a villa is big enough to accommodate a certain number of people," he added.

So, go the RTA way! Register cars for car-pooling/sharing service and do the same with housing.

This campaign was never misunderstood by the people of Dubai Mr Director!!! It is just that you have now done a reversal of your original actions.

Brought about by the fact that villa's are being vacated at a rapid rate of knots I suspect.....

I am in awe and just flabbergasted. What a turn around... I really don't know how the officials of the municipality can even say these things with a straight face. They must meet in back rooms and come up with these plans to launch 'policy' and then turn around months later and say "That was never our intent". I can't wait to see what happens next with the Emirates ID. Make the ID required to buy from any fast food place in the UAE. This will reduce the rates of obesity and diabetes quickly.

My other guess is that every print media in the UAE are utterly useless at understanding the press releases of the government. The alternative is that someone is not communicating the original information properly.

Welcome to Dubai. There are no permanent rules here only decrees which can come and go at will. Money is the only RULE.

It is indeed a U-turn but it also says much about the guys who were saying that one villa, one family rule was meant to support occupancy of vacant property.

My suggestion is to state the number of people allowed in proportion to the size of the villa and the number of bedrooms.

I would say, that these guys were right from the beginning. If the "campaign against overcrowding" was always misunderstood as 1V1F - why didn't they correct this important matter just after discussion came up instead of waiting months?

My suggestion: Municipality found out that their 1V1F campaign had unwanted side effects, like pepole leaving Dubai instead of moving to International Shitty, and now they had to correct their strategy - even if it meant a u-turn.

Who are these people that run this country?

It's like a realy bad, never ending episode of the key-stone cops.

This is exactly why I don't give a damn about their National Card Scheme.

In a month or two I wouldn't be surprised if they said it wasn't necessary.

Wait, so are they saying that more than one family can now live under the same roof?
And are they also saying that it is not what the meant to say since the beginning and what they really meant to say was that they didn't want many living under the same roof?

Is it possible that this rule was somehow changed because of the situation with economy and the fact many are now leaving Dubai? (just a thought).

I can't wait to see what's next!

Oh right.. *we* the people are the idiots!

Was the campaign also misunderstood by your municipality personnel who cut off water and electricity to villas and kicked people out?

Well guys, looks like we opened our mouths too soon. Dubai Municipality is NOT allowing more than one family in one villa. I know it for a fact as I approached them to get permission to rent out my '14 BEDROOM VILLA WITH ENSUITE BATHS!!!!' to multiple families and they completely REFUSED!!!!
They say they never made a U or V turn on their 1V1F rule and it is there to stay till another decree is issued!!!I have no idea what I am going to do with my villa now!!
