As many of you may know - but lucky people in the free zones may not! - all photos posted to Blogger.com are blocked. Visit photos.blogger.com to see what I mean: the entire subdomain is blocked by the proxy.
This means that if you use blogger.com photos in your post, most of us are just seeing blue ?s or red Xs, depending on the browser.
So two suggestions:
1. For posting photos here and in your journal (if you have a big Dubai viewship, which most of us probably do), use an alternative free hosting service such as Photobucket.
2. We should possibly ask Etisalat to unblock the photos. Most probably the link is blocked because of a few rogue "inappropriate" pictures - but that is true of any hosting service, including the now-unblocked Friendster. If anyone has any ideas how to go about this, please do comment below.
Etisalat does provide a Feedback form but it is unclear whether "please unblock!" is a complaint, comment or inquiry.

We can use flickr too.
A lot of people use the photo option in blogger. Mine are all blocked too, which is frustrating, but it's up to them to move the pics to another site.
OR maybe Etisalat can help us out and unblock it!
Dear Secret:
Thank you for the tip on PhotoBucket. I edited my previous post on Wadi Wurrayah and hope that that solves the problem.
Aside: On emirateseconomist about 5% of the visits are from folks who are searching images. Blogger's parent, google, seems to steer them to Blogger photos.
i had contacted etisalat on this issue and this is the reply that i got...
"Dear Customer,
Thank you for your query regarding the site.
Please note that the mentioned site has been blocked, as the site contains pornography. We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused.
Once again we thank you for your email and look forward to serving you in the future."
hmmm... ?:-/
I think that's a very standard response from them, they've given it to me before for totally non-porn sites. I have had things unblocked in the past, but they seem to have changed the system recently.
