In case you didn't notice the bell logo at the bottom of the outdoor ad, I am talking about the one and only Taco bell.

That'll sure help the dietry and health problems

Umm..no thank you. It's not food (unless they Arabize it), kinda adds on to obesity. (plz don't shoot me for saying that :)

taco bell brings back memories of being high out of our minds in college.. i don't see that happening here.. and i don't see myself being fully sober and ordering anything from there.

It may be disgusting and guaranteed to give you digestive problems, but sometimes you just have to make a run for the border. I can't wait! Yo tambien quiero Taco Bell!

I was looking at the pic and it conjured up all kinds of images of who or what might be coming to town until I saw "Taco Bell" - lol!

When/Where?

How can you NOT like TB crispy tacos? here you get 2 for $2.50 and they are not really all THAT bad.

Mostly, lettuce, some cheese and ground beef, but a great snack. Can't wait! Now if they would just get Jack in the Box in the UAE...

Yeah, Taco Bell, I'm excited :-)

The only problem with bringing american or european fastfood here is the quality of the food.

I think staff at most fastfood outlets in UAE don't go through a proper training, hence a McDonals in Jumeira doesn't taste as good as in London or in Miami..

It's NOT food! :) Can't believe people fall for a tacky taco and *make believe* meat. Have a warm shwarmah made with real bread, fresh meat, veggies and a neat juicy pickle - go!

...2 for less than $2.50 :)

One look at the title and Bridget thought George Michael ha! ;)

Fries Supreme . . . Mmmm

And I thought Russell Peters (who btw is coming to town).

One wonders if they'll retain their competitive pricing structure in the blingopolis otherwise known as Dubai.

Probably not.

Still...at least, I'll get my chalupa fix.

Lady true. I don't see McD's at 99 fils or Dhs3, per say? Perhaps Taco shall find a way, think outside the bun?

anon 07.05 partially agree - tho training is an issue uae-wide and is just part of the HR problem! I just went to a function in a 7* hotel where EVERY 2 minutes a f*ing waiter (who didn't speak English) came to serve us stupid strawberry tarts! I asked if there was any savoury stuff around and the guy said "No but we have pink champagne..." - And this kind of crap service is not surprising...where do these ppl get picked up from?!

As for McD Jumeirah, I stopped to get some ice cream .. guess what .. they ran out of ice cream! (??!)

rosh, shawarma is hardly healthy...it's prob all fatty meat, but not that you guys need to keep an eye on ur weight :P There's the old "Picnic" restaurant (the name keeps changing) in Jumeira that does the most "garlicy" shawarma in town...

After the disgusting KFC do we really Taco Bell...I admit I only had it a couple of times in Arizona. At that i was 15 or 16 and I couldn't understand how people could consider Taco Bells to be a meal or food for that matter !!!

Mind you I do like Burger King from time to time...

Veiled Muslimah said...

I might sound dumb, but I've never had taco bell?

What is it and why do people hate the food?

Enlighten me, thanks! :)

VM: Aside from what's been said already, personally, I feel Taco doesn’t focus on authenticity - it's not even real Mexican food....well it's not food to begin with (not that authentic Mexican food is any better ..heh..) The last time I had 'em, they used french-fries in place of tortilla chips. Their shoestring fries smothered in bright orange liquid cheese, ground beef that looks like something unmentionable, and sour cream. If it tastes good, it's probably enhanced purely given the gallon of salt and grease. a chihuahua as it's mascot, never got the co-relation? But hey, you never know how they'll work it out in the GCC. I mean McDs, Pizza Hut and KFC does taste MUCH better in GCC, than here. apologies if I've upset TB lovers.. :)

LOL, Taco Ball is Mexican food but done FAST and I would say, not really authentic but American Mexican if you know what I mean. Like American Chinese food. Many would be surprised to know many dishes they order in Chinese restaraunts are never heard of or even made in China, lol.

The meat does remind you of dog food, lol. Very, very ground. Some call it Taco Hell as well, lol.

Is it coming to Dubai or Abu Dhabi?

WHEN, WHERE, HOW, WHAT?!?!??!?

I HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS FOR YEARS!
Never understood why Taco Bell didn't have restaurants here, specially when all major fast foods do.
Now don't get me wrong, I am not a fast food fan AT ALL, but Taco Bell is just something different for me.
I LOVE IT!

While I agree with KFC tasting better here, Pizza Hut is a different story. The quality f their pizzas have gone downhill since the last 4-5 years. In the 90's a Super Supreme was something great, nowadays it feels they literally count the number of ground beef pieces each slice gets , on top of that the cheese doesnt taste as good as before

Apparently it's at the entrance to the foodcourt in the new Dubai Mall.

A thread on the ExpatWomen.com forum is stating that Taco Bell is inviting everyone to try their food for free on Monday between 3pm and 5pm. I can't vouch that this is true - just passing it on.

I thought making a 'run for the border' is something to do with illegal immigration. I was wrong.

Veiled Muslimah said...

thanks for the information rosh & others. With the interesting array of comments, I think I'll try it out and form an opinion. But considering the majority are negative, I don't doubt there is truth in it being 'dog food' :P

rosh said...

Yes, please, try it for yourself. Sorry, I shouldn't be negative. I had a triple steak burrito this afternoon..can't say it was ALL that bad...:) now am just pretending the billion and a half calories won't count :)

nzm hiya ;-)

re: 'everyone to try their food for free on Monday between 3pm and 5pm.':

Based on the fact the place is still a construction site (with Burj Dubai right on the new mall's doorstep) I can just imagine that they will be attracting MORE than their target market in these 2 hours! Imagine the stampede lol

nzm said...

Hey i*maginate!

I'm not sure that the Monday afternoon free food offer will still go ahead given that the mall opening is now scheduled for Nov 4.

i*maginate said...

Oh well, my sights will be focussed elsewhere on the 4th!

Tomatoes, onion, garlic, coriander, chillies all finely chopped with lime juice and salt ... 10 mins, very healthy perfect yummy salsa! Then there's fresh guacamole that's even easier to make... . who needs Taco Bell?

Anonymous said...

just came from there.

they got my order wrong and you need atleast 20 minutes in the que and another 20 to get your order.

not really worth the hassle if you ask me
