H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al-Mualla

President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan mourns the death of Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al-Qaiwain, H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al-Mualla, who passed away Friday morning in London.

A week state of mourning has been declared during which flag will fly at half mast, while all ministries and other government departments and institutions will close for three days beginning from today, Friday.

May Allah the Almighty grant the soul of the deceased perfect peace and his family and the UAE people the patience to bear the great loss.

Does this mean it's another dry night?

This is turning out to be the best vacation for my guests who are visiting.....lol

Also, does the public sector get any days off work?

I don't understand, aren't government offices closed on fridays and Saturdays anyway? So how is this giving three days off?

May he rest in peace.

But, Ill be the cynic again here. Why are we getting days off? Not that Im complaining, Sunday is off because of this death. But seriously, last month over 1/2 of it were days off. And now another day?

I know most people are happy about the extra day, ok, fine, but I just find taking joy out of someone's death to be... morbid. And trust me, many people today were way too happy about this man's death.

And I have shit to get done. Its another wasted day.

Do you really NEEd more days off? Im actually pissed that I have tomorrow off. I have a shitload to get done, and Im sure that everyone else (aside from you it seems) also has a shitload to do as well.

Its not like her was the president or VP. Tomorrow shouldnt have been given off.

No, I don't need days off. I'm just wondering what kind of gesture it is that the closure of offices is declared on a day which is already a holiday. It seems a hollow gesture.

It seems a hollow gesture

Its the powers that be telling us he was important-ish... but not really.

Which is probably true.
