Disrespecting the National Flag
Did anyone notice the torn/shredded version of the UAE National Flag stuck to the trees all over Dubai(not sure if its in the other emirates or not) in celebration for the National Day. I wasn't able to click a picture but might do so today. Isn't it disrespectful to do that to the Flag and a violation. Correct me if I'm wrong......

I've posted a couple of photos of them - it's the worst 'decorations' I've seen.
Yeah they looked pretty pathetic! I wonder who thought of that!
hey you can see some interesting pics of the celebrations of the national day in my blog.

I imagine the government approved all of the decorations attached to public propery; anyhoo, I wouldn't get too bothered about it, but I can see perfect reasoning in everyone's concern here, the government is totally at fault for insulting itself.
Haven't seen the "offending" banners. But maybe they are streamers not flags, in which case there should be nothing wrong with it--the colors are being displayed, which is the point. What I find "curious" is how blue lights are used to represent the color black. I suppose "black" lights don't really work, but it still seems odd to see red, green, white and blue.
You might want to visit http://www.linkexpats.com (expats in Dubai). this website offer the capability to meet other expats in Dubai. They might be of great help in debating the disrespect of the national flag... I personally do not like to disrespect any country's national flag. It's like a religion... but I don't know, people at linkexpats might think differently...
They were all over the trees leading to festival city..I think they're supposed to be streamers or something but they look like they were made in a 4 year old's art class!
