Paparazzi

Since Paris Hilton is in town, some people in the US want to know what she's up to. So I get contacted by this person who wants me to chase her around town and stake out at the Intercontinental hotel so that I can snap up some pictures. I'd like know, without trespassing, can I get into trouble for this? If so, is paparazzi work advisable…..

Thanks

Note: This might not come under a topic for UAE community but I feel this is the best place to get advice for me….

Yes.
As far as I know there are no 'public land' laws to latch onto here, so if the police came and told you to stop taking photographs you'd have to obey and stop.
Also I'm pretty sure any major celebrity here has about a bajillion CID agents following them around, so chasing them around town probably isn't the smartest thing to do.

hmmm.....not that I'm keen on taking photos of a bimbo....but it could have been good money which is always good in recession hit photography business of mine....

"Public land"

In the UAE there is public and there is private. The hotel is considered private property.

Its lobby however would fall under the "Al amanah al 3amah" or public domain.

Mind you, the law in the UAE does NOT allow you to even take photos of a person in public, so you are kind of screwed both ways.

Example, you cant take pics of random girls in a mall (hough some obviously do)

Plus, Im sure somehow you can catch an STD from her by sight, so stay away! lol.

Flip through any gossip/lifestyle magazine and you'll know where this town is headed....and to add to it, some of us are not making enough money which does force people like me to almost agreed to do such jobs... :|

STD by sight.....hahahahah!!! ABIT...you just made my day, I mean night!! :D

BTW I turned the offer down....

rosh: If stained was to catch Paris in an awkward moment and be the only photographer with such a photo he could be sitting on 6 figures.

Sam, define 'awkward moment' please.

Stained, please check your email.

Samuraisam.....if I had taken this up and caught Paris in a awkward position, I would delete it immediately if it was anywhere close to being obscene....irrespective of the money....plus to catch an awkward position I'd need to be in a place where possibly alcohol needs to be served which would be impossible cause I don't go to places where alcohol is served.... :)

@Stained - honey please, there are other ways to make money other that following Mizz hilton around town. My post about here seems to have drawn up some fire too! (http://outinmyhead.blogspot.com/2009/05/youre-my-best-friend.html#links)

Stained, apologies if the comment came across personal. Wasn't meant so. Couldn't help think / place a thought. Kudos to you for taking the high road, even during difficult times.

A gazillion sleazy pictures, home made porn and just about everything else, she remains a 'celebrity' in the UAE. For every Pam A and Paris H, invited into the UAE, you shall have those who share similar lifestyle visit and 'live it up'. I reckon, perhaps that's part of the PR campaign in having Paris in the UAE. I'd also reckon she tapes, her Best Friend Forever (fake) series, and, her signature, Best F*** Forever (real) home / hotel series (perhaps out in the web 6 months from today). She's indeed, a smart pro!

Apologies for what...Nothing wrong with what you said...and thanks!!!

It just dawned on me that although everyone seems to be picking on Paris, we have our own Arab and even Emarati (Ahlam) sorta-porn stars who's only talent (aside from the "singing" that sounds like dying cats is their ability to wear alot of makeup and whore themselves out to MBC1 and "Zahrat Al Khaleej"

Sir, this country, and the rest of the world, is going to hell in a handbag. Nothing new.

Stained, Yes, Trust me, I have no scientific proof, but I'm sure had you gotten within 8 meters of her youd be itching downstairs and we'd all be suggesting half baked home remedies. Best to stay away, and clean.

"picking" on Paris?

A subtle crush, Mr ABIT?

Hey Stained... are you the one who spotted "Haris Pilton" on Jumierah beach???? :P lol

read it on Gulfnews

and yes... its illegal to photograph anyone in Dubai... without proper permissions

second... you need super fast mega zoom lenses if you decided to hunt her in public and get out unnoticed. :p

Stained said...

Naseem...being a photographer, I do have a super fast zoom...though it's not very mega...only 200 (f2.8 though)....

Hardly, My man boobs are larger than hers, and I am a boobs man!

That being said I dont like the hypocrisy. Paris is bad because she is whorish, when we have just as bad in the Arab world, a few right here in the UAE.

Sure, they keep the lid on their whorishness better than Paris, but just because I cant spell the garbage, doesnt mean it's not there.

I kind of wanna smack you for even suggesting the crush!

Arab world, Desi-World, Euro / East Euro world - every one's got 'em! However, nobody wields whore power like Paris H, well, almost nobody. Once the DXB BFF series airs on the tele (and porn world), you'd have even a higher influx of party animals. You do realize, having the Pams and Paris in town only plays up to DXB's reputation of being a party town, don't you?

Perhaps skin the PR jackass who thought of Paris in the UAE. And you people, yes you - Emi people, protest in whatever shape or form to have her shipped off the GCC.

'Smack' me? With what? A man purse? nahahaha! FYI, I'm muscular/built - be warned ya raayal :)

Warning noted, but I have a German build (from my grandma) and weigh 140 kilos, so we'll be evenly matched! :-P

So you just agreed with me, Ithese types of people are everywhere, so I dont understand the fascination with Paris. Or anti Paris fascination I guess.

If she is that bad, dont allow her entry into the country, BROOBLEM ZOLVED.

As for Dubai's reputation, it's something Dubai its self allowed to happen. If the powers that be wanted to, that reputation could be eradicated in one month.

So again, Not seeing why people are annoyed at this girl. Nothing special.

'Fascination' - Not, Mr ABIT.

It's not personal, but what she stands for. It's about glorifying the goriest lifestyle to the young who's growing up in the UAE. I've had conversations with friends here in the city, and they put forth similar query, "why get worked up when there are larger issues"? I say, BFF shall air on the tele, kids shall watch the show, get inquisitive about Paris, read up on her ways, her past and perhaps adopt her ways. Would you wish the Paris ways for your kids? We may not have those pristine human rights or a fair cost of living, however, the decent ways of life, family values and protectionism to a large extent from the Paris, Pam and Britney 'cultures' are core assets, which make the place a positive place to raise a family. Ways of NY born / raised cousins (two of whom were teenage moms) and those of mine, reflect the ways & cultures we were exposed to. I know things are changing in the UAE, and perhaps exposure to Paris may propel that change. Nobody needs that.
