Registering Your Pets

I'm not sure how accurate this information is, but recently someone mentioned to me that you had to get your pets registered with the muncipality otherwise they would be picked up and put down if they didn't have tags on them. Does anyone have anymore information about this? And has anyone gotten their pets registered yet? [If you have, what was the procedure?]

My Cat has the tendency to run around in our garden and in our area. So I was getting worried.

As far as I know - this has always been the rule but unless someone complains, I don't think they really do anything.

But if there is such a thing, they do use poison. This is arbitrary. I lost my dog because of this. A friend took her for a walk and she ate something that was on the street side.

Sorry meant to add - your vet should be able to help

Yes, this is correct. You MUST get a municipality tag and put it on your pets collar. If they are rounding up 'strays' they will ignore those wearing a tag with number.

Dogs have also been shot by the municipality if they have had no tag.

Thank-you for the information mita and cg. I'll check it out inshallah. I was wondering cg, do you have a pet which you've gotten registered? Because I was a bit unsure about the procedure. I'll call the veterinary clinic and ask in case I need to have forms or records of some sort. I was hoping a simple tag/collar of my own would do. I guess not.
