New Blocked Sites Graphic

Have you seen it yet? The new graphic they put up when you try to access a site/domain that is blocked?

It also links to the "Prohibited Content Categories" PDF document.

I should add I'm on Etisalat DSL. Are you on Du? If so, do you see same graphic?

I'm still getting the old etisalat blocked page when trying to access flickr.com... "We apologize the site you are attempting to visit has been blocked due to" blah blah...

It will still be my No.1 hated page on the net whatever it looks like!

This new graphic only shows at the moment if you're using the transparent proxy (i.e. you haven't filled out the proxy details in your browser settings)

As usual, the complaint form doesn't work.

I guess this means I'm going to have to redesign my proxywatch blog. Ugh.

Actually Jay, the Livejournal Friends Page has been unblocked for quite some time now. No kudos to anyone -_-;;

Blocking is a pain, but personally, I wish it didn't take them weeks to update and sync their nameservers.

I changed the nameservers on a .com domain name over a month ago, and every other day I'm still hitting the old server!

Ohh and . . .

It took 2 visits to the etisalat office, a phone call, an email and then still over a week to change the nameservers on a .ae domain name.

They need to sort things out at home before expanding to markets all over the world unless mediocrity is in high demand.

It's sad that in my country we go to great lengths to allow the movement of things which are difficult to move (e.g. we turn sea into land, and land into sea, and bring millions of people into our lands, and allow millions more to travel through our airports, etc) yet we restrict the movement of the lightest and easiest of things - of thoughts.

It's even more ironic given that this is the so-called digital age.

I look forward to the day that we can look back at these signs and find them in some internet museum about the UAE's past...

Jeez Mr Buj: that's a thoughtful/creative way to put it. They've got Pam Anderson hosting what have you in AUH, but flickr/parts of FB and so on, are blocked? I just don't get it?

Man, I feel bad, really bad for all those people in the UAE. Freedom to choose must never be an "option" - they've got to stop "protecting" people this way. The world is becoming smaller - someday, everyone's gonna/gotta learn about the birds and the bees.

Rosh everyone knows about the birds and the bees spesh after those two drank too much sex on the beach during their Friday Brunch.

The Internet is blocked?

LOL

I got the new graphic yesterday trying to update my Facebook 'moods' application. It's been sitting there neglected for many months and I just idly went to update it...

...blocked. Moods must be naughtier things than I thought...

Hey i*maginate, this net block trivia and your comment reminds me of;

'Life's a beach (or a beyotch), and then you wash up on one'.

Cheers :)

I'm wondering why they don't block all of Facebook. Clearly a lot of people use that site to "get some" . Funny that a lot of other Facebook-like sites are blocked because they're "inappropriate" and haram.

So what of those thirteen wondeful categories does my blog now come under?

There isn't a single one that really applies.

There's one they didn't put up there. "badmouthing/showing the UAE in a negative light"

They actually invented an unofficial one just for you. Nasty old sad cat lady who has nothing better to do but waste time on the INNERWEBS and bitch about anything and everything while being a drag on society at large and annoying the royal f%^& out of humanity.

Yep, fist you perfectly!
