You mean they are saying that people in Saudi are happier than those in... Kuwait or Qatar? Really, really? Yeah, I'm not so sure I buy this.

bull.
so which country IS the happiest? who is number 1?
I question the methodology, if only because the happiest countries tend to be the most affluent. Most other surveys of happiness show that many Latin American and African nations are "happier" than the West. There are a few South American countries that score well in this one, but Brazil? Not happy? Give me a break. And if I remember correctly, Nigerians (!) have often been rated the happiest in the world. Why, I don't know, given the state of Nigeria. Maybe it's because so many Nigerians live elsewhere.
Did he survey only nationals? Rentiers tend to be happy, that's the effect of a life of laborless leisure.
I'd imagine the numbers might drop a bit if the survey-takers went to the labor camps.
pardon the interupption, chillun, but what has (through grace peace)'s comments got to do with it?
i had a look at the links and noted the low level of happiness in russia notwithstanding its exponential growth in national wealth over the past few years..
interesting spin on "you cant buy happiness"
number 1 is denmark.. since the beautiful and hip mary of australia married into the royal family the country seems to be floating on air..

Iraq was not even worth mentioning. Ironically true.

I think Russia's growth in national wealth has gone more towards making Chelsea football fans happy than your everyday Russian. The ordinary Russian is probably better off now than ever before, but there is still a long, long way to go. For the vast majority, they simply don't see any improvements as the country gets richer.
