alexander... Usually when that happens you need to put the proxy in your proxy settings (go to tools>internet options>lan settings in internet explorer and add proxy1.emirates.net.ae with port 8080 in the settings and make sure its ticked.

scarlett: Stop posting completely random crap or I'm going to ban you.

this is one of the rare moments I am having here in the UAE where is a lack of Malayalam speakers around.

Dubai Jazz, I doubt there's a shortage of these speakers in the UAE.

Lack of response to this post only shows that they are not present on the blog.

Surely that's no surprise? The majority of contributors here is Arab and only a rare few brave souls from the West tread these paths. That's why 'Anonynous' who commented recently that views here don't give a good representation of expats in the UAE at large was right.

Sam, it's Malayalam, not Malayam :)

North keralite with a very heavy accent (we have at least 3-4 accents over a span of 600Kms, I kid you not). Well, he starts off with some random shit on caling others. Then it goes over to Call Forwarding, and I had to stop it when it became unbelievable cheesy:
K: How to enable Call Forwarding
CC: Press *8...
K: Whats a star dammit.
CC: You know the button...
K: What button.
CC: You know, star as in 'Nakshatram' (Sanskrit/Mal/Hindi for star)
K: Oh yessss....

Special points to the girl for actually going into such detail!!

Apparently this particular video (audio) has been doing the rounds for quite a while.

What makes it amusing is the Northern Kerala 'Kasargode' accent, and the implication that anyone with that accent automatically has half a brain.

Basically the guy calls up to complain he can't make international calls with just 1.40 in credit. The call centre girl goes to great lengths to explain that you need at least Dh. 2 (or something like that) to make international calls, at times pausing to stifle her own amusement. That's about it. Don't know Malayalam, you won't get it at all.

There's another one that comes up in the YouTube list next to this one, it's a similar accented guy's dialogue with the Call Centre guy in Kannur (Kerala), claiming he lost money calling a number to try and download a song...mildly funny, some say it's the same guy.
It's called "Rayan Parannya Number".

You might want to check out "Kerala English", which is quite short and seems genuine. We know it happens frequently.

As for "no Malayalees on this site": well, well, whadayya know...
