Who needs the ocean anyway? This artificial lagoon and swimming pool in the San Alfonso del Mar resort in Chile is eight hectares in size and contains 250,000 cubic meters of water, equivalent in size to 6,000 standard domestic pools

Guess they were not aware of its existance, now its sure to be the next project! Bigger perhaps by a few square inches.
If anything is bigger than Dubai - Just wait for the news...it will be built or PLANNED to be built within 5 years or so :P everything big - including their ego :P
Dubai's version will still be the bestest because it will comprise of fiftyseven rotating aquaria, each with a dolphinarium knowledge city within, and the largest gold plated submarine in the world, if not the galaxy, driven entirely by sustainable Southasian man power (shackled to hi-tech pedals made in Germany, because Dubai Cares)- but not during Ramadan when the fish in the aquaria are forced to refrain from drinking during daylight hours and all die.
However, devious rumour has it that the canal is really a new open sewer for Dubai Marina, so I wouldn't hold my breadth. Or maybe I should.

Its very easy to dig canals in the sandy desert. I hope the guys know when to stop. If the sea god changes his mind there is not a hill in sight to run to. Jebel Hafeet is miles way even by the fatest four wheel monsters.
But then such things are not issued visa to enter the country.
nick, baseless insults from ppl like Anon who cannot argue their case in a civilised and proper manner should not be met with an indirect attack on religion...
"Eid mubarak! Piss be upon you."
I would have thought you would recognise a more appropriate way in "taking the piss" rather than bringing religion into it in the run-up to Eid especially.
I just think these recent comments attacking you in particular are unfounded (at least in the contexts of the posts you've recently been commenting on here at the UAE blog) but perhaps Anon is one of the rare few whose approach would best be met with a less provocative response...in the name of "peace" cross-culture.
Nick, aren't you so fucking adorable? Aren't you just so damn smart to respond to my comment? It's always my pleasure to inspire your arse into farting these comments of hatred! Piss be upon me?... he he… you are indeed full of piss that you are offering some on the verge of Eid. I'd suggest you leave for Chile ASAP, at least they'd be able to contain all the piss derivatives running through your veins in that big pool. Perhaps after cleansing your body and mouth, you'd be decent enough to live in Dubai…
I*maginate… Nick never disappoints me, his last line just proved that he deserves it all …;)
You’re the one that provoked Nick in your 01:50 timed response. If you read Nick’s response, he attacked no one in particular but the system while you on the other hand took it personally. You see this is what happens when you take things personally, the end results in you getting the shit beaten out of you. So, stop provoking and you won’t get/feel hurt.
Nick, your republican friend likes you but is a coward to say he does.
nick n his republican friend are assho1es as evry1 knoes it. he neednt have bought eid into this. and btw when u mention about all that stuff about the aquaria and the bestest stuff in dxb u forgot to mention the filth that u have bought in u. isnt it ironic that scum like u sit here and shit on the top of the very place u live in. do u like shitting upside down? seems like republican n u have something in common. hes buried in shit ur gonna join him too. also if u dont know how to insult ppl how ask ur bachelor dad to help u out.
Nick, great summary in your first post (10 October, 2007 15:09) So hilarious – especially the “Dubai Cares” part – did copy it and send it to a few friends to enjoy such a witty write-up. Thanks for that! :- )
Wow and Chile even has friendly and working locals! Yeah, with huge signboards saying “a tourist is a friend”. Besides a spectacular scenic desert, plus geysers, plus real skiing resorts, plus rainforests, plus volcanoes, plus… plus… plus In short: One of the most beautiful countries on earth!

The Dubai version
Pah.That's nothing.
