Bunch of hunches. The fact is the persian gulf is the idea area to build islands and avoid them being flooded. Do you know that the Arabian Gulfs Water Storage declines every year?

better start pumping then

well luckily for the arabian gulf there is the yearly rise in average seawater levels.

emirati,

why did you first call it the "persian" gulf?

secretdubai et al,

interesting post.. also in case you're interested, there are a group of low lying islands not far off NZ that have been suffering from an increasing sea level for some time. the name escapes me however i think it ends with "atoll" but they have struck a deal with the governments of NZ and AUS to relocate all their residents (small, in the order of 10,000).

so if you still want to buy nakheel products then do so but make sure u get the penthouse.

"Buy one of our islands today; islands over 300 square metres include a FREE ESCAPE POD!"

incase they DONT flood.

@ Buj; Because it was always known HISTORICALLY as THE PERSIAN GULF. Look up any old ATLAS.
That is known as a freudian slip.
So if this will be the new ATLANTIS, shouldnt they be investing in waterproof furniture?

Kaya: but Iran was historically known as Persia but it doesn't any more. And this place has only been the UAE for 30-odd years. Etc ;)
