I have friends coming over from Europe in January. Now My Question is this, is it suitable to go swimming and to the beach in that time ? Many thanks (and sorry if its off topic)
if you live here during the summer you'll probably find it a little cold to begin with, but europeans live in -3000 degree weather, so i'm sure they'll survive.
sorry Emirati - but the sea in January is f-f-f-freezing.
we went diving in Oman 3 weekends ago, and then again last weekend. In 4 weeks the water temperature has dropped a lot - about 7 degC. We were in full wetsuits last week.
In Jan last year, we were at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and decided to go for a swim in the sea. We got as far as putting our toes in before we ran back up the beach! :-)

true .. Jan is also ideal for jetski-ing, kite/wind surfing and outdoor BBQs .. I already polished my BBQ kit ;)
And if one is used to cold weather, a quick dip in JAN should be alright i guess..
go to hatta, to wadi bee or whatever (or oman, oman is better)those wadi's are heaps of fun.
