Word verification on new posts

Bizarrely, this place seems to have got listed as a "spam blog" - meaning that until it is reviewed, Blogger has mandatory Word Verification on all new posts (not just comments - where we enabled it ourselves to avoid spam).

"Blogger's spam-prevention robots have detected that your blog has characteristics of a spam blog. (What's a spam blog?) Since you're an actual person reading this, your blog is probably not a spam blog. Automated spam detection is inherently fuzzy, and we sincerely apologize for this false positive."

Spam blogs can apparently be recognised "by their irrelevant, repetitive, or nonsensical text, along with a large number of links, usually all pointing to a single site".

Not a terribly flattering assessment of UAE community blog :(

Anyway I have submitted this blog for review, so fingers crossed.

Hmmm. Like my post above on Emirates Today Friday blog bites?

interesting posts John, but unfortunately I don't see the relation between your post and the spam categorisation by blogspot. Is it perhaps because you're linking to many sites? They are not the same site though... hmmm

It's only 8am here, so I'm probably just being a bit slow!

I made several links to Emirates Today.

Giving this more thought, perhaps "several links to the same site" occured during the several day period this week when the translation link was embedded in each post.

I for one am glad for the oversight of our google/blogspot overlords. I'm glad to have a few otherwise needless speedbumps pop up when they have reason to suspect a blog may be a blog spammer.

they probably find spam blogs by searching for mounds and mounds of links in a single page, i just chucked the source code for this blog in MS word, and did a search for "a href", which is the beginning tag for ANY link made on here, there are 157 links.
