World's Top 100 Most Livable Cities

Dubai and Abu Dhabi ranked 80 and 88 respectively in the year 2007 for the most livable cities in the World. Dubai is up 5 spots from last year

I guess the traffic needs to improve for us to move up that list.

The complete list...

If you read the explanation, this list is aimned at "expatriate executives". That group has a distinctly different set of needs than most of us.

My personal list would be completely different. For a start, Abu Dhabi is much more "liveable" than Dubai. Also, I used to live in Vancouver, and Vancouver is a crappy place to live if you don't have a million dollars.

What - Sharjah's not made the list - gasp! Perhaps more than Half of DXB lives in SHJ : )

rosh: I think you are right...Livable: what the hell does this mean? I will vote for Ras Al khaimah or Al Fujairah..I bet they will make it to the top of the list.

In terms of what I think as "liveable", Al Ain would be the top city in the UAE by a mile.

At the bottom would be Sharjah. I'd find a remote inaccessible Musandam village of two peasants and a goat more liveable than that.

SD, ahem that hurts :)

SHJ perhaps is a true Arab suburbia - lotsa green and lovely "real" homes and people : )

Sorry Rosh, but when I think of Sharjah I tend to think of National Paints roundabout and permanent gridlock. Plus those wondrous "decency" laws.
