Muslim and Muslima – The Fundamentalist Couple

Part 2 - About Sex Education in United Arab Emirates Schools and Else where

Recently, the couple had heard of children getting into illegal sexual activities at schools. They had also read about the growing concern to educate children about sex in various newspapers by people advocating Sex Education for students in UAE schools and other countries.

Sex Education of children and youth is a sensitive yet important aspect of their learning. At present Muslim children are getting secular sex education at schools and getting, the wrong messages from the media!!!

What gets on my nerves is that for some Muslim parents of today sex is a dirty word, they feel uncomfortable in discussing sex education with their children, but do not mind the same being taught at their school, by non-Muslim teachers (of even opposite sex), by their peers of either sex, and by the media and television which sometimes is wrong .... They should know that sex is not always a dirty word. It is an important aspect of our life. Allah who cares for all the aspects of our life, discussed in the wuran the reproduction, creation, family life, menstruation and even ejaculation. So why feel shy or uncomfortable to talk about it?

I think that the reason why Muslim parents do not or cannot discuss sex education with their children is because the way they have been brought up, ignorant and maybe they are not comfortable with their own sexuality or its expression. They leave Islamic Education to the school, and sex education to the "American schools" am not against anyone here its just that am stating that its taught differently .. there are issues they'll teach which are prohibited in Islam so our youth should know that its 7aram in Islam and the media.

Gd Day!

And Here are we, sitting here and taking abbout How to use our thingys!!!

Who's bad?

The last people in the world who should try teaching their kids about secks are parents: the embarrassment factor is gigantic! Remember 'the birds and the bees'. No, this is a subject that should be taught in schools. No drama, just stuff you need to know. And religion should not come into it.

Fahad said...

@ Mitsuki . i totally agree with u,,thanks for the comment

@Fake Balushi: what can i say about your comment......:)well The Whole world is Talking about about Space Oddysy, How to park a shuttle near the Moon! but still they dont remind themselves not to use their thingy...with everything and everyone .... i hope you put your thingy to good use and if it is already been misused then atleast dont let your children misuse it...

@Keefie boy: why should humans keep religion seperate, its part of everyones life unless people are atheist... i dont seem to understand why do people say keep religion seperate.... be it christians, jews or muslims.... be proud of your religion and its laws ... to give preference to man made laws over GOD's law is the biggest mistake anyone can commit...whatever the world is today is a clear proof human laws have failed and they will fail in future for sure... if every human had faith in God the world would have been a better place.....

On the contrary, an enormous portion of human suffering over the years, and especially in the 20th century, was born from a blind faith and an absence of rational thought and critical enquiry. That such an approach was adopted and enforced by the state in most cases with terrible results is an overwhelming argument in favour of separation of relgion and government, or indeed the separation of government and any other ideology which does not stand up to critical enquiry.

Fahad: gods and religions are human inventions, so it's really quite silly to try to make distinctions between "human" laws and "God's" laws. The second is just a subset of the first.

What you are saying is really quite silly . :)

Because we have a choice. You have chosen 'submission', it seems to make you happy and I'm glad for you. Plenty of other people have good reason to doubt much of what is written in Holy Books (all of them), and choose to follow a different path. Don't forget, we have analytical brains (how we got them is another issue) and we can use them to think, debate and argue about pretty much anything.

The point is that everyone is different and you should not try to force everyone to conform to a particular set of rules. Maybe you think that life was better in the fifteenth century: that's fine, go and live there in your head. But don't try to make me come with you!

@keefieboy: to my understanding i havent forced you or anyone to follow what i follow ..i have no idea where did you get that idea from ... u took it personally...anyways people do have a choice not to follow or to follow path..u choose not to follow and no one can force you ..same way you can always disregard islamic postings if you dont like them i havent written it for just you, there are millions of other people in this world who may have a different opinion, ,,, instead of creating a issue out of a simple post...some human minds do work over time when it comes to islam and there is no point in arguing about it with you or anyone else its happening all around us....so just think that my posting is for people who understand what i mean and what my opinions are...its for people who respect other peoples opinions, its for people who want to learn from each others faith... i surely want to come from 15th century ..cause if 21 century leads to hell then im better off in the past...thanks for your comments

p.s... please study those books you reject thn jump to conclusions, and please dont try to force your opinions on others who do want to read my posts or want to know more about islam or other religions, everyone is different if u dont agree with what i have to say then we should repect that as well..anyway thanks for your comments and please if you want to live with a fact humans created everything then keep that in your head only and dont try to force me or anyone else....you are just not the saviour of humanity ....

Wow Keefie don't be sensitive.
Nobody is trying to re inforce anything onto you or anybody else.
This is Fahad's personal thought, opinions, and way of thinking. Read them, "analyze them, criticize them" , no need to get uptight and sarcastic. Nobody is fighting here except you.

Excellent post Fahad, keep it up.

fahad:I agree with keefieboy; sex education shouldn't be taught with regard to religion and the reasons are quite obvious.

Your religion is exactly that, your religion. I personally don't want to know about it; if I want to know something I'd ask. I don't want to know about religion and I'm sure you really don't want to know about agnosticism or whatnot so I won't talk about them.

On the one hand you are posting here about your religion, and on the other, you are saying stuff like...
"if you want to live with a fact humans created everything then keep that in your head only and dont try to force me or anyone else....you are just not the saviour of humanity .... "
Aren't you trying to force your religion upon other people by posting this?

Fahad said...

@ samuraisam : please read keefieboys comments first then highight my comments ...i just gave him the same reply like he did ,isnt he trying to force his opinions on me and other people who are interested in my posts.. He thinks i live in 15th century and he lives in 21st ...well good for him... if you agree with Keefieboy then its your opinion , my post is my opinion agree or not... critical reviews are welcome but imposing your and keefieboys opinions on me or other people who have some kind of faith and visit this blog shows...

There is a complex issue here with you guys, more then 75% of people who live in UAE are muslims and most of them send their kids to school , they would like to know my opinions..

and if UAE community only belongs and read by Keefieboy or youself please also let us know so we can post whatever you like .... please list topics of your choice instead of highlighting religion all the time...

and personally i dont mind learning about other religions i am not that insensitive... knowledge is always benefical to understand each other and live in harmony in the same community... arnt we here to do just that...

What about you comments, what are you trying to imply here:::

"Your religion is exactly that, your religion. I personally don't want to know about it; if I want to know something I'd ask. I don't want to know about religion and I'm sure you really don't want to know about agnosticism or whatnot so I won't talk about them."

who is asking you to know my religion if you dont want to and no one is forcing you....this sarcastic remarks dont help either you or Keefie...best thing to do is dont worry about other people and if dislike something move on to other posts.... my posts are not targeted directly to you or anyone who doesnt want to know.....

we have discussed this numerous times and still you guys are being insensitive to fellow community members and trying to force people to post which goes with your opinions.. but my friend everyone is different ...i cant force anyone nor can you .....i hope you take my comments sportingly

@ Hot lemon & honey : Thanks a lot for being there :) and thanks for your comments ....

Fahad...where do you get the idea that I'm trying to force anything on anyone! Or that I'm trying to shut you up?!
Everyone is entitled to their opinion - even me.
you are just not the saviour of humanity
Never said I was...

Oh Fahad

I am not an administrator of this blog - I don't tell people what they should or should not post on this here, and if I have an opinion on that then I usually keep it to myself. However I do think it is important that posts have some relevance to the UAE because that is the basis of what this blog is about. I think this post is very relevant to the UAE and it is certainly good to see topics like this discussed here.

Fahad: Who gets to decide what is a critical review?

"There is a complex issue here with you guys, more then 75% of people who live in UAE are muslims and most of them send their kids to school, they would like to know my opinions.."

I like the idea of democratic societies and communities. :-)

To quote you:

"I am happy that you would overlook culture and concentrate on the teachings of your religion. Surely religion has more to give you then the culture, which was created by humans."

When a debate gets appropriated to the teachings of a religion (which is absolute!) - then there is no chance of any critical review.

I am not one who is going to check the past record of Samuraism and Keefieboy. We all have had disagreements - and we will have in the future.

Most of us know that this blog is not a platform for critical review of religion within the framework of a religion.

Why do you feel some of the bloggers were "imposing their views on you"?

Take it easy, bro.

Sex education is very important, no matter what religious path a society follows.

There are 570 million Hepatitis C and B
patients worldwide. Safe sex can drastically reduce that number.

Anonymous said...

sans, sex education dont contradict our Islamic belief. It is our culture that consider it a taboo.

samuraisam said...

fahad:

Keefie started by saying that religion and sexual education should be kept seperate; he used words like 'should'; clearly not forcing his opinion on anyone.
You responded saying stuff like "to give preference to man made laws over GOD's law is the biggest mistake anyone can commit"; the very tone of which obviously means you are incapable of respecting any opinion put forth which contravenes your own.

"if every human had faith in God the world would have been a better place....."; I'm sorry but I disagree.

Let me just say that I agree fully with Keefie boy; at sex-ed age (11-12) kids still haven't made up their mind about religion, some of them however started developing and as is human nature, they will begin taking things into their own hands; and whether they are Muslim, Christian, Buddhist Monk or Atheist they all should be taught the best information available. The very concept of denying children the right to sexual education is like saying you're going to teach children history but not teach them about World War 2 for whatever reason. You're either teaching children so they become smart, or you're teaching so they become stupid; judging from the fact that we were all created from two people having sex, and judging from problems like HIV/AIDS, abortions etc, I'd say sexual education is of more importance than most other subjects and it shouldn't be thwarted by anyone.

I don't appreciate that you've accused my of making sarcastic remarks when I haven't; however if you've already accused me, it's not like I can demerit myself by making at least one...

"i surely want to come from 15th century ..cause if 21 century leads to hell then im better off in the past..."

The internet wasn't around in the 15th century smarty pants.

The thought that everyone is entitled to their own opinion is sickening. a consensus should be made as to what the "right" opinion is, this of course being undertaken by myself, then all opposing "opinions" (mind crimes) should be hunted down.

Yeah... I love 1984.

That said (Being serious now) i thought this was a post about sex ed in the UAE. in a country where religion is state law, and is taught as absolute (not as history, or culture) in school, it makes perfect sense that a religious based sex ed criteria would arise.

Sam and beefcake, I understand that you have different beliefs than Fahad or myself, but this post is made in and under the context of the UAE. in which case all the religious undertones that he used are 100% valid.

You may not want religion being a part of sex ed, and where you come from it isnt (or shouldnt be) but here it is. 96% of the people of this country are of the same religion. and they want their religion taught. because of that sex ed is basically "dont fuck till you're married."

96%. hell, if we were a democracy (god forbid) and voted on this there would be no way that it wouldnt pass. so why are some people so against this?

You may not want to know about my religion, but guess what? you're here, I had to put up with Mormons for 3 years, you can put up with muslims till you leave.

My personal feeling about "sex ed" is this. school is made for learning. sports, music, art, SEX ED are not academic studies. they do not belong in school. When I wanted to play soccer I joined a sports club (Jazeera) when I wanted to learn the guitar I bought one and learned, when I wanted to write I read, and when I wanted to be informed about sex I asked my father. and, to his credit, he did his duty as a father, he answered all of my questions.

It is a shame that more people in this culture are not like my father, but that isnt my fault and it isnt yours. if someone gets an STD because of unsafe sex due to stupidity, or because their parents were tards, I hope they die just so that those stupid genes cant be passed on to a 3rd generation. Hell, maybe they and their parents will parish in the same car accident. yeah, I know, but seriously, Darwin knew where it was at.

Fahad, thought provoking. I like your posts, I find them funny in my own sadistic way. Look forward to your next one.

ABIT: this here's the UAE. And here, people like to keep sex ed out of schools. More importantly, we don't like discussing such subjects with our kids. Call us tards, call us stupid. It's the culture here, and we're in the majority here. Now if you don't agree, you know exactly what your options are.

Osama: Oh. You're one of those people that holds the opinion of every single local in this country. I was waiting for one of you.

Some local people in this country have an IQ above that of a chopstick; If there wasn't such difficulty for locals to express their real opinions I'm sure there would be a variety of opinions being expressed.

My personal opinion (for whatever it counts, i.e. nothing) is that religion can/should be taught in one class, science/sex ed in the other and thats it. They needn't interfere with eachother.

You jackass! I am Emarati, and if you were educated in a school here you'd know that sex is taught from 7th grade onwards in science classes. please try to not jump down a person's throat unless you're sure of what that person is going on about.

Sam - Of course he has a lower IQ than a chopstick. he just disagreed with you. thats how you and your kind work. you are always right, they are always wrong, and those who oppose you are stupid.

No, those who oppose you are different, and in this case YOU must come to a realization that YOU are wrong because ALL you have ever learned, ALL your social skills, ALL your philosophical tendencies, norms, beliefs and expectations ARE WONG HERE. When in Rome...

You're a Nazi.

Sadly, the fact that he can converse in YOUR native language perfectly however, you probably cannot in his sort of says a lot about brain capacity, a factor closely linked to intelligence. (or so said Dian Sawyer about 4 months ago in a report, look it up)

And you're right, your opinion is worth less than nothing because we are talking about something in someplace that believes something that is totally alien to you. you'd have been the holder of the higher "IQ" had yu just said nothing.

are wong here? I'm not wong.
History trip: I've spent just about my entire life here, I went to a british primary school, an 'internationl' primary school and a high school catering to the local population; I was just about the only non-local in my class. Literally all of my friends are local, I learnt the same stuff they did.
Most of what I know I've learnt in this country and from this country, and if my opinion says that future generations of this population or any population should have the knowledge allowing them enough sense to prevent have their penises falling off from unprotected kinky sex in the back of a nissan and you're disagreeing with that, you are the idiot.
FYI, I've lived in Rome and I've done as the romans have and I've learnt from past mistakes.
This has nothing to do with anyone speaking anyone elses language, (you do however bring up an argument I've only heard 7982 times before) this has to do with providing people the best in knowledge availablel If you're actually prepared to sit there and say that there is some reason you shouldn't teach people something that is going to potentially save their lives I really don't know what to say to you.

And this is exactly why my opinion is that sexual education and religion/culture should be two entirely seperate topics.

Is Fahad imposing his views on a large population, which lives outside the geographical borders of the UAE?

What exactly is "illegal sexual activities" at school?

There cannot be any legal or illegal sexual activities in a school.

@ sans:) u make me laugh ....... u are definetly one of those people who try to find some kind of excuses to create envoirnment which suits you and your opinions...well if it makes you happy thn this post is especially directed towards you and whole of humanity..... now the problem is that you have to live with this post and so do people......
it doesnt matter you like it or not and please stop cribbing all the time....give your opinions on the issue rather than pointing out something which is not so relevent...... please study the topic and come up with some healhty discussion.... if you cant thn just sit back and relax

p.s.... I am not here to give you descriptions of illegal sex...may be nothing is illegal for you ...,or you would want to get in details ...get back to school for it or ask your parents they may be able to provide you with better sex education ... and some healthy discussion to discuss in future

Sam - Of course, you are NEVER wrong! if you are so right, why is what you are arguing AGAINST a reality?

Oooh!

you've heard that argument a million times and still havent fixed the gap that allows people to continue throwing it back in your face.

YOU DID NOT GO TO PUBLIC SCHOOL GRADE 1 TO 12. shut up. That is what this topic is about.

A private school (even if it caters to citizens) can teach what they wish. we are talking about sex education in the UAE. not in your private school. blah blah blah.

You can live here forever, and have all the Emarati friends you like, and at the end of the day you have as much of a clue as the guy who just showed up 3 days ago. and no matter how long you lived here, something like policy is a matter of a state and its CITIZENS, not you.

I am very much prepared to sit here and tell you that I want stupid people to die. I find that sort of thing funny.

Sex is not a topic for a school. sex is a topic for parents. if a child happens to have shitty parents, then those parents should have been sterilized long ago.

Yes, I am for forced sterilization as well.

Sex education doesnt mean teaching how someone can have sex. It should be more into a psychology class about the relation with other gender.
