Top 10: Unofficial Wonders Of The World

The World Islands - Dubai, United Arab Emirates
If you've ever dreamed of conquering the planet in a single day, you'll definitely want to head to The World Islands. Located off the coast of Dubai, this geographical oddity promises to be a collection of 300 manmade islands shaped to resemble the continents of the world. Although this massive real estate venture is still in its development stage, it will feature islands ranging from 250,000 to 900,000 square feet with a minimum of 164 feet of water between each site. Start saving your pennies now since islands are expected to fetch a minimum of $6.85 million each.

... being built with slave labour (or almost slave labour) just like most of the other wonders of the world. BTW, the british tabloids are now starting to report on the construction workers issue. I recon very soon they'll blow it completely out of proportion resulting in boycotts on holidays and buying property. The tourism industry is in for quite a slump I'd say

300 islands at $7m a pop? Who exactly is going to be buying them?

I'm curious as to how they're going to get the materials out there to build whatever monumental palaces they intend to construct. Perhaps by boat from that bit of undeveloped beach next to Jumeirah Beach Park? Oh, oh, I see more chaos on Beach Road.

Irish lad, I guess it's coming to that. In the past 10 days there have been 3 reports on the labour issue. The international press is waking up.
