Emirates Airlines Pays $195 Million For FIFA Partnership From 2007 To 2014
Tuesday April 18th 2006, Emirates Airline has signed a $195million deal to become a FIFA Partner from 2007 to 2014. In its largest sponsorship deal to date, the Dubai-based airline has rights to all FIFA events - including both the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups - and will benefit from enhanced global media exposure and an association with FIFA's special events and development initiatives.
Emirates Airlines is a sponsor of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. The deal was signed by the airline's chairman, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktoum, and FIFA President Joseph Blatter. Emirates Airlines expects to double in size by the end of its FIFA deal in eight years time.
Emirates Chairman, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, said: "It is part of Emirates plan to become a global brand and household name and association with the most high-profile sporting event in the world is one part of Emirates' strategy to achieve that aim."
"It is our intention for the United Arab Emirates to host a FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup during the rights period, which would be the first event of its kind to be held in the Arab world.", Sheikh Ahmed Al-Maktoum added.

Has Emirates Airline paid to advertise its own brand or paid to advertise for FIFA???
Shouldn't FIFA be displaying the Emirates logo everywhere...
Well, Emaraty ... I think this is what will happen in all the coming FIFA competitions. I would expect to see Emirates Airlines logo everywhere in the football fields and on TV commercials between half times. This is the least of course ... Billions of people are expected to watch this year's World Cup ... by the end of this competition everybody will remember the name of this airline! :)
in other words, all viewers will be Hyponotized.
I guess you can say that ... this is what advertising is all about, am I write? Sometimes to convince you to buy something you don't need .... anyway ... I don't think Emirates Airlines would through $195 million with no guaranteed great benefit in return.
Personally it would be very nice to see Emirates Airlines commercials and logos everywhere in FIFA stadiums ... but not the ones that shows Emirates Airlines serving beer and wine!
Fahad - but not the ones that shows Emirates Airlines serving beer and wine! - Emirates needs to show that these items are available, given that most of the world still thinks the UAE is in Saudi Arabia. You might not like it personally, but it is one of the major selling points for the tourist industry.
sad!so, who's the champion?
ok, i heard this and if any1 can confirm, pls do.
ok, from what i heard, fifa seems to have booked all the good respectable(?) hotels(yr hiltons, marriotts, sheratons etc)for use by their people only in berlin , and i was told that the ritzcarlton berlin has a special package, room, board, ticket(s) for the finasl , transportaion etc ,all for the sum of ........................... 120,000 dhms! or there abouts!
ouch!!!!!!!!! i wa shoping to go to see the final, but i guess i won't.
roll on june9-july9!
later!
Keefieboy .... so you are saying the end justifies the means like Machiavelli? I don't believe in that at all ... we are only stepping towards our failure if we continued heading this road of compramising our prenciples ....
UAE to host 2018 or 2022 World's Cup(i like to call it that!),maybe!
all u need now is to expand the capacities of yr club's stadium to 50,000 or more& then maybe you'll get the chance to host the tournament!only problem is....................... when?what with the weather being what it is in june/july! hmmm!
