Great news for all beach lovers . . .

The decision came directly from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Thank God! Shk Mo proves that he listens to public opinion and perhaps this is a little lesson to Hamdan that he has a lot to learn.
This news has made my weekend.
And...f**k Gulf News for failing to run the story. Patsy newspaper.
It's on the front page of my copy.
Yes, great news and a very sensible decision for Dubai's future as a tourist destination.
Right on. Yes, the power's that be are responsive. So what, it's not a democracy. But we're blessed, so to say, with a monarchy that not only is decisive enough to get things done fast, but that also has an ear to listen to the public.
Like the pessimists who think the labor issue is intractible and a slave to raw economics... it looks like a minimum wage for construction laborers is on the way.
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY... amazing start to this weekend!
However it doesn't say much for the planning process here, that a development can get cancelled at such a late stage. The developer must have already spent thousands. I wonder if he'll be compensated?
trailingspouse: I don't think the developer spent anything because they never had any information to release about the development.
Thankyou Shk Mo!
woohoo....good news...
I love these Good guy Bad guy Thingys!!!

Fantastic news.
So first ShMo sold the beach to a developer and then after even the locals protested he cancels the deal.
