Silence at the UAECB

Dear all,

Why are people so quiet here (and on personal UAE blogs in general) with regards to the recent event of Saddam's execution?

I haven't had much time to browse extensively, but I would like to think that there would be more of a reaction to this important event.

Two wrongs don't make a right, but there's something to discuss!

I think you missed the topic below...titled 'Dead'...

Would Iraqi bloggers do?

I just find it very sad for very many reasons, and something I want to avoid dwelling on really. A sad chapter of Iraq's history has closed in a sad way, whatever your views one way or the other.

secretdubai, I wish from my heart that as you said a sad chapter of Iraq's history has closed but the way the government handled the whole thing of Saddam is a huge indication of what is awaiting us, Iraqis, in the future.
Do you know that some of the masked guards who hanged Saddam recorded the whole thing on their mobiles? It's all over the net!!
They shouted while hanging him "Muqtada, Muqtada", the name of a shia leader whom his militias is roaming Baghdad’s streets killing women, children and innocent people.

I think the silence itself speaks volumes, and is a clear reaction to this important event.

Discussion is really lost at this stage. But if you are feeling in need of some sense of closure then perhaps this will help:

cg...if giving us this link that shows Saddam being hanged is your idea of closure then I think you are sick

CG said...

possibly true. But my sickness pales in comparison.

No CG maybe not. He had the power to show his "sickness" thinking that he would not be prosecuted. You might have if you had the power, seeing that you found "closure" by watching that sick, immoral video that was leaked out, just speaks volumen AND to recommend it to others for "closure", PLEASE. We all know what this guy did, we all hate him for what he did, but correcting a mistake by another mistkae is just double standards. I hope you got high watching it.
Sick person really.

Anon, No, I did not say that it gave me any sense of closure to watch it. I did not even say that I have watched it. I just said that it MAY bring closure to those who are looking for something.

The link clearly states what it is, so no-one would have opened it accidently.

I think it rather telling that the people who were there COULD record the execution. It seems to me that all recording devices (including mobile phones)would have been banned from the scene unless someone wanted it to be recorded and leaked. Or was this just another example of how things are organized/controlled in this part of the world?

Disgusting though it is, one would have thought the man would have been executed in private. For myself, I will not dignify it or him by watching it.

Whatever CG.
I totally agree withyou mme. They wanted it to be recorded. We are not sad because Saddam didn't deserve to be executed. It is the meaning behind the way it was done. Those who hanged him cheered for him when he was in power and help kill all those people they want to bring justice to. They are the same if not worse. It was an act or retaliation rather than justice. For that bastard who had the cam with him and recorded the hanging, I hope he rotts in hell one day, lets see what justice he will get with the future Iraq. To all the channles that broadcasted his hanging, damn them, if they wanted to show people proof they could have just shown a pic of his dead body.
Well done to the new Iraqi puppet administration, well done America.

Important event? Something to discuss?
What is more disgusting is the shameless apathy of the world when they see innocent people being blown up trying to find work or buy bread.
