Like Father Like Son

Yesterday an important decision was made in Dubai. According to this Khaleej Times report:
His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, issued here yesterday, in his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, a decree appointing Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.

The positions Sheikh Hamdan currently holds include:
  1. Chairman of SME for Young Business Leaders
  2. Chairman of Dubai Bank
  3. Chairman of Dubai Sports Council
  4. Chairman of Al Ahli Club
Maybe very few expats know that Shaikh Hamdan is also a popular poet among the youth of this country. I really admire the way he inspires people, especially the youth around him. An example is Al Ahli Club winning UAE league title after a gap of 26 years. Another example is this, he helped revived the art of Al Yolah(The traditional art of moving the gun in your hands). And who can forget that Sheikh Hamdan is one of the leading Endurance Horse riders in the country.

Good Luck to our Faza'a in this new challenge :-)

Please tell me he is not responsible for the poem that is written around the Palm Jebal Ali.

does anyone know what his main political objectives are?

the 'poem' written around the palm jebel ali is actually a translation of a fairly well known english saying.

Hmmm. As far as I can tell from a bit of Googling, the poem is Arabic and as DG points out, written by Sheikh Mohammed:

Take wisdom from the wise
It takes a man of vision to write on water
Not everyone who rides a horse is a jockey
Great men rise to greater challenges

Let's hope his son's efforts are a bit better than this.

@Lirun: political objectives?

Whatever do you mean?

Shk Mo and Faza3 (Hamdan) are brilliant poets. It's the translation that kills the gist of it. But if you understood Arabic, you would love their poems.

Sheikh Hamadan is the chairman of the Dubai executive council which is equivalent to a prime minister.
