Things could be so much worse...

Censorship and proxy's and Government involvement with private citizens in the UAE is a mere inconvenience compared to other situations.

China has banned acclaimed director Lou Ye from making movies for five years as punishment for sending his "Summer Palace" to the Cannes Film Festival without government approval in May

so we should feel good about what's happening here and just take the blocking without protest because someone else has it worse? give me a break!

dg: thinking like that gets you nowhere. The 'authorities' need to have some kind of clue about what people are thinking, so tell 'em.

Annoyed commenter - no of course not, be angry about the situation here. I am simply pointing out the fact the grass can be very much browner on the other side too you know too...

Oh, and also to point out that we poor people in the UAE can not access myspace and skype plus the fact we have injustices but in some cases it is not so bad - this director has spent his adult life trying to make movies and he was already banned by his GOVERNMENT from MAKING movies for 2 years previously and now banned for FIVE years for MAKING movies becuase, allegidly, he did not ASK PERMISSION before submitting a movie to CANNES. PERMISSION!!!

Again, the UAE is not perfect and there is much to be angry about... yet there is still other things to be angry and concerned about...

And yes, I still stand by my title - Things could be so much worse...

"Complaining only increase your blood pressure, take a chill pill brother/sister :-)"

hmm...

I think what you meant to say was...

"Complaining only increase your blood pressure, take some prozac or pack your bags"
