Beautiful Coast

Aerial Photography by: www.choppershoot.com.

One more plug for Dubai Marina. The straight, barren Dubai coastline has been transformed with modern high-rise towers, water inlets and artificial islands. So, it isn't everyone's cup of tea. For those who like the totally unspoiled, there are several hundred kilometers of the Abu Dhabi coastline to enjoy--if it can be accessed.

For those who like the urban setting with an intersting mix of high-rise towers and high-end resort features, then the Dubai Marina is--or eventually will be--the best place to be.

(It's not just for the monied and well-heeled. Anyone can take a stroll along the Marina promenade while taking in the views of boats and towers and enjoying sea breezes.)

As can be seen in the image, more towers are set to rise. Will it spoil views? It sort of depends on one's perspective. Several of the new ones will be 90 and 100+ floors which will be spectacles in and of themselves.

Imagine the view in the evenings, with the lights etc and the sea on on your background - stunning, absolutely stunning/breath taking view!

So BD - are you buying a place at the Marina, you seem so fascinated with this place : )

I am still hoping the Super 7 & 649 lottos click : )

I put my ring into the hat almost a year and half ago--and have to wait till 2009 before my flat is ready!

I have not got a problem with the marina per se, however you comment of:

For those who like the totally unspoiled, there are several hundred kilometers of the Abu Dhabi coastline to enjoy--if it can be accessed

kind of annoys me - have you seen the mess that the beautiful beach of Jebel Ali is becoming?

The oil that keeps drenching Fujeriah beachs?

Dubai and the UAE needs to urgently realise that it may have a lot open spaces to build in "on paper" but it needs to do so with more thought to the natural environment for wildlife to survive in and for people to enjoy... this also means tourists that don't want to stay in their closed beach resorts...

I still can't get my head around what a 100 storey building is going to look like. I don't think any of the buildings pictured here are more than 50, are they?

You're right, the 100 story towers will be double those presently built. There will however be 60, 70, 80 and 90 story towers around so that should balance the effect.

being built over blood of poor workers ...

So true, I wonder how many have died on construction sites in the marina.

I suppose the buyers of such properties could organize and try to influence developers, contractors, etc. to improve treatment and conditions for workers. Anyone willing to discuss how?

Could we stop with the Dubai Marina allready? What's up with this? Are you trying to sell us all an apartment there or what? Sure they are beutiful shots but they've been posted already, right? Okay, then give it a rest and move on to something else.

Two posts on a subject is hardly overkill. Just click another link if you don't want to read it!

Well "bd", if it was only that easy... it's right there on the page whether I click on it or not. I just don't see how it's of that widespread interest that you are going to get a flat there in 2009. And these helicopter photos are nice but we know about them now so why post one again.

Who said this post had anything to do with my getting a flat in Dubai Marina? I was responding to a direct question from another commenter.

Now I see your angle! Just take it easy. I'm not self-promoting, and even if I were such is not disallowed. You haven't presented anything here (credible) that would indicate my posts on the topic are excessive or inappropriate.

Please note, this is a forum to unite UAE diarists of which I am one, and Dubai Marina happens to be the topic of some of my own blogs. It is clearly an interest of mine and I believe I have taken a balanced approach to discussing it here.

I suggest you post your own topics of discussion if you feel so annoyed by the posts I've presetented.
