Dubai not Afghanistan

Read this article 'Find my Fiancee' in 7days, where the US national claims his fiancee has been lured to Dubai and might be in danger. Andapparentlyy he has been so convincing that 7days is making appeals to readers about it. I meanC'monn its Dubai not Afghanistan, the dude can walk right into immigration or police or CID and get her presence verified, everything is computerized and systematic. Ofcourse he would need to have proper evidence to make claims first. Most of us who have been in dubai for a couple of decades know, one thing that stands out is our safety.

Thats what we know, not the people of the US who have been fed with the AIPAC certified media (Fox and the bunch) that Dubai is a terrorist haven. For them Afghanistan is about to be a developed country - if it was not for the Dubai-based Arab terrorists.

Well, see this:

lost

Really, I would hate to be in a situation where I was trying to find a lost loved one in this country: the lack of coordination is unbelievable.

Have you walked into a government office in the UAE? I sincerely believe you haven't if that is what you think happens.

Ahmed

[...] that Dubai is a terrorist haven [...]

Care to explain why there have been no attacks / car bombings /kidnappings targeted against westerners (aka white people). Seems to happen all the time in the Middle East.

Wonder if it’s because the competence of the UAEs' security apparatus or their collusion with the ,'freedom fighters'. Pick the illusion you believe in and live with it. I shall live with mine.

Although I have to agree with you on the media bias and spin, which exists both in the US and in the Arab World. After all it’s the media, ratings = advertising dollars for all of them.

poo: maybe it's because the terrorists are also following the creed of all animals: don't poo in your own nest.

After all, they do need a safe haven and somewhere to get away from all those attacks to relax once in a while!

...so now countries that haven't been attacked have to come up with an "explanation" as to why they haven't been targetted so far!!? This assumes that the "natural" or "normal" course of things is that you get attacked by terorists, or somehow you are under suspecion of collusion with them? I don't know, but I find this to be a bizarre line of thinking!

Unless the manager is "out for lunch" at 3 in the afternoon, or at his desk asleep, or the employee/embloyee doesn't want to get in shit so pretends they dont know where the manager is...

Not being attacked does not directly,'imply', collusion.
Just think about it from the point of view of the,'freedom fighters'. Who would they want to attack, westerners? Where can they find a high concentration of pale faces surrounded by,'no security’?
Most expatriate compounds in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait are guarded, sometimes off limits to most people. The UAE is a reasonably free country. Anyone can go anywhere, at any time.

Hence the UAE is a soft target for these guys.

The UAE has porous borders, (as evident from the rampant smuggling via sea). So the attacks have not occurred due to a lack of arms and explosives. If people get smuggled in on boats, so can explosives.

Motivated people to carry out any said attacks are already present in the country in the form of dislocated citizens of many Arab nations. Have a conversation with most non-GCC Arabs and they make it obvious that they don’t like America or anything related to America,(all this while drinking BeBsi and smoking Marlboros). In case none of them are motivated enough it’s not hard to import some talent on an easily available visit visa.

Opportunities to strike? Anyone one who has lived in Dubai for any length of time can name at least a dozen places along with perfect times to stage an attack. "Places of interest", that would have an high concentration of pale faces.

Now, if I have missed some logical reason that would prove my theory wrong. Please feel free to correct me.

Just don't take what I wrote as a personal insult and react by posting meaningless insults. If you disagree, correct me. Best way to defeat an argument is with a constructive argument. Not a STFU . . .

poo - I wasn't insulted by your previous post and I’m not out to insult anybody. You can theorize to your hear content about this topic, but I really find the subject uninspiring and I’m just not interested. No harsh feelings.

A bunch of expat art majors talking about how unsafe the UAE is compared to their own countries, how cute :)

And I would not worry about the governments capability to find anyone. The government found the dead German guy buried in the Middle of the desert, and the Gold Souk Theives 6 hours after their heist and disappearance into Dubai.
